I’m not sure what you’re looking for, but it doesn’t seem like a great recipe for a restful night. Sure, I could have gone for one of those $7,000 mattresses they tried to pitch to me at the Home & Garden show (and yes, I’m still chuckling about the salesman’s pitch). They might be incredibly comfortable, but I’d rather not have my sleep disrupted by a hefty credit card bill. The mattress didn’t alleviate my lower back pain, but I don’t blame it entirely. It turns out I might need a firmer mattress, though that might not be the fix for everyone’s discomfort.

Bed bugs are notorious for spreading far beyond just beds; they can hitch a ride on almost anything—clothing, shoes, carpets, luggage, curtains, even electronics like laptops and alarm clocks. They aren’t selective about where they hide. For those who’ve claimed to find bed bugs, if you believe they originated from the mattress and you’ve just discarded it, the issue isn’t resolved. The mattress swelled to 9 inches within just 10 minutes and hit the full 10 inches in less than 2 hours. I let it sit undisturbed for 3 hours to guarantee it fully expanded. Hybrid coil mattresses, as noted, tend to expand faster than those made entirely of memory foam or gel/memory foam blends. They also maintain their thickness more effectively, as foam alone is prone to losing its shape. Currently, my mattress is firmly at 10 inches thick, offering a firmness and plushness comparable to the twin mattress I previously used.

I let the mattress sit undisturbed for the suggested maximum of 3 hours, and the great thing about encased spring mattresses is their quick expansion. It’s now slightly more than 10 inches tall, around 10.5 inches. For optimal expansion, I suggest cutting the plastic seal at all four corners to let air circulate evenly. The mattress feels medium-firm, as previously noted, and right now, lying on it feels like I’m floating.

The combination of coils, firmness, and overall comfort, along with the straightforward setup and no extra delivery fees, makes this mattress exceed all my expectations. It’s hard to imagine finding a mattress of this quality at this price—or even double the price. I don’t often give 5-star ratings across the board, but this mattress truly deserves it. One of the major advantages of the Pucloce mattress was that it didn’t contain fiberglass, which I couldn’t find mentioned anywhere. The previous mattress I had, which lacked springs, did include fiberglass, and I distinctly felt it. Despite having enjoyed that mattress for 2-3 years, I hoped this would be a step up. While the Pucloce mattress is well-crafted and of high quality, it unfortunately didn’t suit my ergonomic needs.

I’ve come to understand that mattresses essentially fall into two categories. First, there’s memory foam, which I’m skeptical about because, like people, it tends to lose its “memory” over time. Some might even compare it to developing Alzheimer’s. The other category is hybrids, which combine spring systems with a layer of memory foam. Even if the foam deteriorates, the springs remain, so these might offer better longevity. Naturally, each type boasts its own special technology designed to ensure a restful night’s sleep.
