Here are a couple of tips: First, enlist help to move it. The packaging is more compact than it seems, so I thought I could handle it alone after the delivery. That was a mistake; the package and I had quite a struggle getting it from the front door up to my attic bedroom and positioned for unpacking.

This mattress didn’t work out for me. I found that my midsection was elevated compared to my head and feet. It wasn’t a drastic difference, but enough to cause me to wake up with a burning throat and acid reflux, which is unusual for me.

We made it work by placing it against the wall. I chose a metal bed frame since my child sometimes jumps on the bed, and I wanted to avoid a flimsy wooden frame that could break easily. The metal frame is robust, quiet, has rounded edges, and is positioned underneath the mattress to prevent any mishaps, which is great. Even though it’s a bit firm for my taste, we’re very pleased with the quality and price. I’d definitely recommend it for parents or anyone in need of a guest bed!

When I first unboxed it, there was a slight odor, but I had aired out the room and expected a stronger smell. The mattress seems sufficiently firm after just a day or so. I’ve even let my son jump on it to help break it in. I initially considered spending $1500 to $2500 on high-end brands like Bob-o-pedic or Beauty Rest Harmony Lux, but since mattresses typically need replacing every 10 to 16 years, it didn’t make sense to invest heavily in a smaller mattress. Eventually, I’ll need a high-quality Queen for my teenager. As for our own bed, we currently have a great Queen-sized Serta mattress, and I don’t plan to switch to this model for ourselves when it’s time to buy a new mattress.

Although unpacking it is straightforward, it’s oddly packed so that the top ends up on the bottom when you open it (at least mine did), which means you’ll need to flip it over. It turned out to be thinner than I expected, likely due to my inaccurate visual estimation. However, when I measured it with a tape, it matched the advertised dimensions. I’m using it on a slatted frame; a box spring or platform is necessary for proper support, or it would need to be placed directly on the floor. Despite that, I absolutely adore this mattress!

However, I love the size of the mattress, and beyond my back I find it to be very comfortable.Now I don’t like the lack of firmness around the edges, which appears to be extremely weak. Whenever I sit on the edge of the bed I feel like I’m going to fall off. The rest of the mattress is actually pretty firm. I feel well supported. NOTE: it doesn’t hurt my back anymore than what I experienced before. If it wasn’t for the issues with the edges.

Just to clarify, if you’re hoping for a mattress with bed bugs, you’ll need to order those separately—they no longer come with the mattress. If you were convinced a brand-new mattress could come with bed bugs, then you must have believed my story, so rest assured, no bed bugs here. On a more serious note, I find the mattress to be more on the medium-soft side rather than medium-firm. Naturally, this can vary greatly depending on who you ask. As a man who is 5’8″ and weighs 180 lbs, your own weight will also impact how firm or soft the mattress feels to you.

The mattress is quite adaptable since it arrives compressed in a box, so the surface beneath it might influence how it feels. I’ve had this mattress for just over a week, and so far, I’m quite satisfied with it. It looks attractive, though it doesn’t have the appearance of a $1,500 mattress, which is expected.
